What is a Heat Cable?

A heat cable is an electric cable designed to prevent freezing by emitting heat when powered on. It is commonly used in areas where temperatures drop below freezing and can cause pipes, roofs, or gutters to freeze. The heat generated by the cable helps keep water, pipes, and surfaces from freezing and can also prevent ice dams on roofs.

TYPES OF HEAT CABLE

SELF-REGULATING HEAT CABLES

How it works: These cables automatically adjust their heat output based on the temperature around them. The conductive material inside the cable changes its resistance as the temperature fluctuates, increasing heat output in colder areas and reducing it when temperatures rise.

CONSTANT WATTAGE HEAT CABLES
How it works: These cables provide a consistent amount of heat across their entire length. They are usually designed to maintain a specific wattage output regardless of temperature, and require a thermostat to regulate temperature effectively.

What is a Snow Bar?

A snow bar is a physical barrier installed along the edge of a roof to help control the movement of snow and ice. Snow bars are designed to hold snow in place, preventing large chunks of snow from sliding off the roof all at once. This reduces the risk of damage to gutters, landscaping, and people or vehicles below.

01

Prevent Snow Avalanches: Snow bars prevent large amounts of snow from sliding off the roof all at once, which can be dangerous to people, vehicles, and property below.

03

Reduce Roof Damage: Heavy snow can cause damage to shingles, flashing, or other roofing materials if it slides off in large chunks. Snow bars help to protect the integrity of the roof.

05

Prevent Ice Dams: While snow bars primarily manage snow, by controlling the rate of snow and ice buildup, they can help reduce the formation of ice dams at the roof’s edge, which can cause water leakage and damage.

02

Protect Gutters and Landscaping: By controlling snow and ice movement, snow bars protect gutters, downspouts, and landscaping from being damaged by the weight of snow or the force of falling ice.

04

Safety: Snow bars are especially important for areas that see a lot of foot traffic below the roofline, such as entrances, walkways, and driveways, as they reduce the risk of injury from falling snow or ice.

06

Aesthetic Choices: Snow bars come in different materials, finishes, and designs to match various roof styles, so homeowners can select a system that complements the look of their home.
